Take care of your skin during menopause

Menopause is starting of third age in life of women. Basically it’s a transition phase when women’s ovary stop producing eggs and menstruation cycle becomes less frequent and stops altogether after that. Changes occur in the body due to less production of estrogen and progesterone hormones. Menopause is an important life stage for women and affects every woman differently. Series of changes occur in women’s emotional and physical health. The most visible physical changes are dryness of skin. Needless to say, she should take care of her skin in good sense, because in these years women’s are more cautious of their looks.

Because the estrogen (hormone) level is down during menopause, which is responsible for toning of the superficial layer of skin made up of collagen and elastin. Estrogen gives elasticity and supplements to the skin, lower estrogen means less moisture in skin hence leads to dryness of skin.

Skincare tips during Menopause:

1) Consume plenty of foods rich in vitamin C. Vitamin C has collagen that strengthen capillaries that feed skin. Foods such as lemon, guava, blueberries, broccoli, oranges, papaya, kiwi fruits contains vitamin C. Try to add these on your daily diet.

2) Exercise regularly: 20-30 minutes exercise daily can lead to healthy and good looking skin.

3) You can use skin scream or lotion that contains antioxidants such as vitamin C to fight age related issue. But, test it before use whether it suits to your skin or not. Better to switch over herbal creams which have less harmful chemicals.

4) Moisturizing the skin is a key, so go for good quality moisturizer which has anti-aging properties. 

Following these simple steps you can boost you confidence with fabulous and glowing skin. This confidence will help you to deal with emotional changes resulting from menopause. Remember, Menopause is just a start of new life; it is not the end of road but the start of new wiser, mature and beautiful women.
