Deep tissue myofascial Massage - Remedial and Relaxation
54Massage - Remedial and Relaxation
With life
becoming frantic with every passing day people are looking for various
alternatives to rejuvenate physically and mentally. Massage therapy is one of
the most reliable options that has very little or no side effect. The therapy
has been in practice since ancient times. There are corroborative evidences to
prove that it was very much prevalent in many ancient civilizations, namely
Greek, Indian, Egyptian and Mesopotamian. According to an ancient Chinese book
Huangdi Neijing massage relieves body from pain and makes it healthy.
Benefits of massage
The aim is to target muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints, fascia tissue and organs. With expertise in the field Body Energy Connection offers best practice massage therapy for people from all walks of life be it a sports person, office worker or school teacher. Over the years we have developed expertise in sports massage, remedial massage, deep tissue massage, myofascial massage, relaxation massage or swedish massage. The manipulation of soft tissues affects so many of our bodily systems and massage therapy can assist with so many health problems.
The benefits of massage are extensive. Massage therapy treatments will have a therapeutic affect and improve health by acting directly on the muscular, nervous, circulatory and lymphatic (immune) systems. There is a growing amount of good research being carried out on the many benefits of massage and combinations of new techniques are being introduced. A good massage therapist doesn’t just rub. They are highly trained, highly specialized professionals who systematically and scientifically mobilize soft tissue for therapeutic benefits such as:
· Relief from pain
· Relief from anxiety
· Relief from depression
· Reduces blood pressure
· Reduces heart rate
· Improves attentiveness
· Relieves mental tension
Massage therapy is effective in the control of pain, chronic or acute; relax tight and tense muscles (a tense muscle can throw off your body’s balance. It becomes a chain reaction that can spread far from the initial problem spot), improve circulation, recovery time and immune system function, in stress reduction, and in creating a sense of relaxation and well-being. A qualified, skilled therapist can become an important and integral part of your health care team.
If you experience Lower Back Pain, Headaches or Migraines, Neck and Shoulder Pain, Sciatic Pain, Stress and Tension, General Stiffness and Tightness, Pins and Needles, Numbness, Strained Muscles, Fluid Retention, Lactic Acid Buildup or Sports and Occupational Injury we will assess your particular issue and provide a massage treatment plan, often with an exercise therapy or stretching programme, to work towards alleviating pain and body imbalances by helping muscles and joints to function harmoniously. Body imbalances can come from just living everyday and postural awareness is something that we will educate you on and help to release pain quickly and effectively. Massage therapy has become a staple of many professional athletes’ training regimens. But not just athletes; lifestyle factors, such as long work hours or physically taxing tasks, lead many members of the workforce to seek the assistance of a massage therapist. A seemingly minor injury can have a profound impact on a person’s ability to stay physically active, participate fully in life, or even make a living if it becomes chronic.
Body Energy Connection specialise in the hands-on treatment and prevention of Neuro musculoskeletal dysfunction. Our approach is equally about prevention as it is treatment and rehabilitation.
Assessment
People presenting with a specific complaint are assessed utilising the most appropriate tests, according to the person’s presenting signs and symptoms. This may include posture, biomechanical, range of movement, neural and other tests that help identify the most likely cause of pain or injury.
Treatment
Manual Techniques
Trigger Point Therapy alleviates Myofascial Trigger Points.
Myofascial (muscle and fascia) Therapy promotes flexibility and mobility of the connective tissues of our body; extricates fibrous adhesions; and decreases the severity and sensitivity of scarring caused by injury or surgery.
Broad-handed Techniques reduces swelling and / or inflammation.
Frictions mobilise adhesions between fascial layers, muscles, compartments and other soft tissues. Frictions also promote healing in tendon pathologies as well as decreasing the perception of pain.
Sustained Pressure (digital pressure) alleviates hypertonic (tight) areas within muscle and fascia.
Stretching
Numerous stretching techniques may be used during a treatment session. Typically, we may include static stretches to alleviate an area assessed as being excessively hypertonic (tight).
Muscle Energy Technique (M.E.T.), now a common technique, was developed and refined some 100 years ago in the field of osteopathy. M.E.T. is the use of light muscle contractions by the client, in very specific directions, to alter joint restriction and joint range of motion, through altering the length of local musculature.
Exercise Prescription
Depending on assessment findings, some people may be given an exercise or series of exercises, to strengthen, or simply to ‘wake up’ particular muscles. We may incorporate traditional yoga principles and positions with your programme. These muscles may have become weakened over time, after an injury, or may not be recruited (used) efficiently by the person. We at Body Energy Connection are experienced and trained in Yoga and Personal Training / Exercise Therapy to assist out clients in a speedy recovery and then maintain a healthy body.
Advice
Perhaps the most important part of any treatment plan is the advice given to a client. With each presenting condition, a treatment strategy is developed and an implementation timeline suggested. This may be a single treatment or series of treatments, a referral, or a recommendation to develop specific muscles etc. Our primary focus is maintaining and improving human function and performance.
